A new discount on commercial batteries.

The NSW Batteries for businesses incentive is live under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. Eligible businesses can take a chunk off a new battery — more if new solar goes in with it.

About 20–30%

Off the battery install if you put in a battery on its own.

About 30–40%

When the battery is installed with new or additional solar.

20 kWh to 30 MWh

Usable range the NSW page sets for this discount. Houses and data centres are out.

Those ranges are what NSW Climate and Energy Action publishes. They move with certificate prices. We confirm the current discount on your quote — we don’t lock a percentage in a brochure.

Who it is for

  • A NSW business installing a battery between 20 kWh and 30 MWh.
  • Not a residential building, and not a data centre.
  • The site has not already used this discount.
  • The job uses an installer who offers the discount, and any planning approval the site needs.
  • Solar is not required. The discount is larger if new or extra solar is installed with the battery.
  • Batteries from 20 kWh up to 200 kWh need a minimum customer payment. From 200 kWh up to 30 MWh, that minimum payment does not apply.
  • Batteries commissioned before 1 September 2026 are not eligible. There is no planned end date — the scheme is legislated out to 2050.

Homes are a different program

Lived-in homes are not this commercial discount. They may still qualify for small-scale certificates on solar, and for the federal battery program on storage — including many off-grid batteries. That depends on the home, the equipment and the rules on the day we lodge it.

Farms and stations sit in between. If the battery is on a business site and inside the size range, ask us to check the commercial incentive. If it is a house, we check the home programs instead.
